From Seed to Oak
By Christine Stevenson, Business Manager
Seventy years ago, in 1955, a small seed was planted here in Cambridge. It wasn’t an oak tree at the time — just an idea, a commitment to integrity, service, and doing the right thing for clients and community.
Over the decades, many people have tended that seed. Partners, staff, and colleagues have watered it with hard work, shaped it with wisdom, and protected it through changing seasons. Each generation has added strength to the trunk and reach to the branches, allowing our practice to grow into the oak tree we see today — tall, trusted, and firmly rooted in this town.
An oak doesn’t stand alone because of one good year, but because of many years of care. What we celebrate is not just longevity, but the people who made it possible — those who came before us and those who are here now, continuing that care and responsibility.
And like any great oak, our story isn’t finished. With the values we share and the talent we have, this tree will continue to grow — standing strong for another 70 years, maybe 100 or even more.
Thank you everyone who has been a part of the the firm's past, its present, and it's future.
Accounted4 Team Building
In November, the Accounted4 team stepped out of the office and spent the afternoon at Tieke Golf Estate, combining team time with a focused planning session.
We kicked things off with lunch, giving everyone a chance to slow down, connect, and reset before diving into the afternoon. From there, we moved into a strategic planning session facilitated by Andrew Miller from Roar Coaching. It was a valuable opportunity to step back from day-to-day work, reflect on where we’re heading, and align on priorities as a team.
To round out the afternoon, a few of the team headed to the driving range, a relaxed way to finish the day and enjoy some friendly competition. It was a great balance of thinking time, conversation, and shared experiences, and a reminder of how important it is to occasionally pause, regroup, and plan together.
Christmas at the Races
The Accounted4 team had a fantastic day out at the Te Rapa Christmas Races, soaking up the festive atmosphere, from cheering on the races to enjoying the sun and the buzz on the field. It was a great chance to take a break from the usual office grind and connect as a team. The day was full of laughs, excitement, and a few stylish outfits on the sidelines!
Thank you to our awesome Social Club for organizing such a cool event, the perfect way to kick off the festive season.
Melbourne Cup
After work on race day, we gathered in the office to watch the Melbourne Cup together. With a sweepstake, a couple of snacks on hand and the race on screen, it was a relaxed way to wind down and enjoy a bit of Cup Day atmosphere as a team, great bit of fun to the end of the day.
Festive Desk Decorating
To get into the Christmas spirit, we split into teams and gave ourselves just 15 minutes to festively speed-decorate our desk spaces. Tinsel was thrown, creativity kicked in, and teamwork was tested under pressure.
Each team brought their own flair, but in the end, the Green Team took out the win with a standout festive setup (and some serious Christmas spirit).
A fun, fast way to wrap up the day and add a bit of colour to the office as we head into the festive season.
